- Criteria for Specified Skilled Foreign Workers in the field of agriculture
- In order to engage in farming with the resident status Specified Skilled Worker, the following criteria need to be met.
- Over 18 years old
- In good physical health
- Having agricultural skills that require considerable knowledge or experience
- Basic Japanese language proficiency

- Agricultural skills that require considerable knowledge or experience
- The “agricultural skills that require considerable knowledge or experience” as above mentioned 1 (3) specifically falls into either of the following. In addition to the agricultural knowledge and skills, the required skills include Japanese proficiency to listen to and understand the farm work, etc. instructed in Japanese.
- <For engaging in crop farming>
- Those who successfully completed the second technical intern training related to crop farming
- Those who passed the Agricultural Skill Assessment Test (general crop farming)
- <For engaging in livestock farming>
- Those who successfully completed the second technical intern training related to livestock farming
- Those who passed the Agricultural Skill Assessment Test (general livestock farming)
- Having basic Japanese proficiency
- “Having basic Japanese proficiency” in 1 (4) above means that you have Japanese proficiency necessary for daily conversation to some extent and that does not disrupt your life. Specifically, it falls into any of the following:
- Those who passed the Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese
- Those who passed the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (N4 or higher) conducted by the Japan Foundation and the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services.
- Those who successfully completed the second technical intern training
